half ass backwards
As I always do things...
The trip to OH was wonderful...seeing old friends is always great. I didn't realize how much I missed Kirk (my bff from high school) until I got to Cincy last Thursday night and saw him. We caught up, I upset his girlfriend by being there (direct quote about 30 seconds after meeting her, "What exactly are you doing here?") and paid off my beer debt to my other friend for UD's two losses to Xavier in bball this year.
Then up to Dayton on Friday morning. Walked around campus, not much has changed since August. Visited the Rike and KU. Mark (my old boss) was trying to tell me about all the things that have changed on campus since last year, but I had to remind him that I was there all summer so I had seen all of that. Then I returned to the homestead (1639 Brown St) to await the arrivals.
Kristy and I made our way to Milano's to wait once she arrived and were soon joined by Erin and Kim. After a great dinner at Tank's and a beer and some photohunt at BW's we made our way to to Milano's for way too many shots from our bartender Dave, who had cleaned up an entire glass of beer I spilled on the floor earlier in the night. After that the night kind of fades in and out for me...I fuzzily remember being at Tim's and being at the Sunoco, but the next thing I remember is waking up in bed. College is hard work!
Sarah and Addie arrived Saturday, more friends and Relay that night. It was a cold and rainy day smashed in between two decent days, but I survived and they raised over $76,000...smashing out total from last year. I won two roundtrip AirTran plane tickets (the only place I can go direct from Denver is Atlanta...woohoo!) and our team got a plaque for the Highest Per Capita Raising Team.
My trip home was long, but uneventful. I did almost fall asleep a few times during my drives, but made it none the less. I did receive a phone call from my friend Nick, I am not sure if any of you know him...but we worked at KU together all summer and I threw up on him last year (great story there). We were supposed to hang out last weekend, but his Reserve weekend got moved so he was there. Anyway, he found out he will be going to Afghanistan at the beginning of September, so I will be back in Dayton sometime this summer, or the end of August before he leaves.
Now I am scrambling to find a new place to live, I am supposed to move in nine days and have looked at two places I am not that impressed with. But I am looking at at least one place tomorrow, one Monday and one Wednesday, so hopefully one of those will work out. I need some younger roommates!
Oh, and it is snowing here now...hello it is almost the end of April and all of the mountains are closed! Oh well.
